Park(ing) Day is an annual event for people to reclaim urban space from cars, one parking space at a time. Participants from around the world occupy parking spaces to show a variety of alternative uses including parks, events, art, and spaces to play, dine and relax and other micro-development. In 2020, a dozen groups in Tulsa participated along Boston Avenue.

Park(ing) Day 2023

This year, Downtown Tulsa Partnership, PartnerTulsa, TYPROS, and the City of Tulsa Urban Design Studio are working together to host world parking day for 2023 — and yes, there will be a trophy for the winners!

This year's focus will be in the Arts District  — a growing and evolving district of Downtown ready and able to incorporate creative infill. Along with the traditional activation of on-street parking spots, we will incorporate a portion of a surface parking lot to showcase creative ideas possible in even the smallest allocation of surface parking lots.
