A Celebration of Art, Poetry, and Downtown Tulsa
Each spring, Curbside Haiku transforms Downtown Tulsa’s streetscape with poetry and art, bringing creativity to unexpected places. This temporary public art project, presented by Downtown Tulsa Partnership, activates tree wells and planter beds with haikus and visual artwork from local Tulsans.
Curbside Haiku 2025
In 2025, a call to the public to submit short poems called haiku resulted in 154 entries from people of various ages. Judges from Downtown project partners Magic City Books and the Woody Guthrie Center selected 10 haiku winners and DTP commissioned artist Baylee Field to design a backdrop for the poetry.
Baylee Field is a UI/UX designer, illustrator, and Oklahoma native of Cherokee descent. For Curbside Haiku 2025, Baylee created Built Together, a tribute to Tulsa’s diversity and the hands that built the city, both physically and culturally. Her work merges a deep appreciation for history with a modern design sensibility, always seeking to create meaningful, visually compelling experiences.
The 2025 winning poets are Brenda Bertrand, Natalie Bowling, Adriana Diaz, Lory Ferguson, Hannah Glenn Fillingim, Tyler Ford, Kevin Gibbs, LaShandra Keel, Sofia Nagda Noshay, and Ellise Verheyen:
