Please Touch the Art Opening Reception

Have you ever visited a museum and had to suppress the urge to touch a painting or run your hands over a smooth bronze sculpture? Have you ever wondered what a landscape smells like – or what a work of art might taste like? If so, then Please Touch the Art is the exhibition for you! This year’s show is our biggest ever, with 45 works by artists from nine states, from California to New York.

Join us for the opening reception of this one-of-a-kind exhibition that engages all five senses on Friday, September 4 from 5 - 7 pm. Please Touch the Art celebrates the creativity of artists who are blind, have low vision, or have disabilities, while inviting visitors of all abilities to experience art in new and unexpected ways. Visitors are encouraged to touch artwork, explore tactile surfaces, experience scent- and sound-based installations, and engage with art in ways that traditional galleries rarely allow.

At the reception, you can meet the artists, enjoy refreshments, and try your hand at a collaborative fiber art project at this free, come-and-go reception.
