The full-time Marketing & Events Coordinator supports the marketing of existing Downtown businesses and events as well as the implementation and marketing of our programs, initiatives, and events. This role requires an exceptional writer and content creator who is as skilled at project execution as they are creative. The ideal candidate is a deadline-oriented, self-motivated individual who is comfortable working in a fast-paced environment. They have a passion for and/or interest in the success of Downtown Tulsa and seek to advance their career in marketing, communications, public relations, and/or event planning.

By creating clear and compelling content for Downtown audiences, the Marketing & Events Coordinator will help shape the story of downtown Tulsa and support the organization's ability to serve its members and the community at large. The Marketing & Events Coordinator reports to and supports the Director of Marketing & Events.

What you will do...

  • Create daily original content free of typos that speaks effectively to the appropriate audience(s).
  • Plan, create, and schedule content development in advance for a variety of digital platforms, including social media, website, blog, and email marketing.
  • Manage and fulfill frequent requests for promotion of specific downtown events on organization platforms.
  • Manage organization website by keeping homepage, maps, business listings, etc., up to date.
  • Develop digital content graphics, marketing collateral, presentations, and other design work, outsourcing larger projects as approved.
  • Keep up to date on trending/relevant topics, and consistently brainstorm, recommend, and implement new content strategies.
  • Maintain and regularly present data relating to the habits of digital audiences, and consistently brainstorm and implement new strategies for audience growth.
  • Share content related to these and other topics:
    • Temporary and permanent public art commissions and installations.
    • Activating underutilized places and spaces.
    • Working with partners to make Downtown Tulsa a destination for holiday and winter activities.
    • Events and activities that invite all Tulsans to participate and provide opportunities to share diverse cultures with one another.
  • Provide event support and staffing on site as requested.
  • Create and/or capture event content "as it happens" for sharing on social media and other platforms.
  • Support media relations efforts related to organization programs, initiatives, and events.

You'll be most successful if you have...

  • A degree in marketing, public relations, journalism, or another field relevant to the essential responsibilities
  • Exceptional written and verbal skills
  • Previous graphic design experience using Canva and/or Adobe Create Suite products
  • Experience using MailChimp and/or various email platforms, content management systems, and social media management tools
  • A proven track record of problem solving and team collaboration/communication
  • Professional photography and video skills (a plus)

Hours will generally be 8 AM - 5 PM, Monday to Friday (40 hours/week). Given the nature of this role, evening and weekend hours will be necessary on occasion with the flexibility to adjust weekday schedules accordingly. The Marketing & Events Coordinator will spend the majority of their work time at the office in Downtown Tulsa, though they will also spend time outdoors and other downtown locations implementing the programs and efforts identified in the essential responsibilities. The position will require the ability to lift and move objects up to 50 lbs.

DTP offers competitive salaries, excellent benefits, paid time off, and industry- and profession-specific professional development opportunities. The starting salary range for this position is $51,000-$53,000, commensurate with demonstrated experience.
