Tulsa, are you ready for a week of incredible creativity, community, and celebration? The Pärlá Citywide Creative Festival is almost here, and it’s set to be an unforgettable experience. Founded and led by the inspiring Jerica Wortham, this festival is all about showcasing the talents of BIPOC artists from Tulsa and beyond. With a packed schedule from September 15-22, there’s something for everyone to enjoy, and most of the events take place in Downtown Tulsa. So, mark your calendars and get ready to dive into a world of art, music, dance, fashion, and more!



Meet the Visionary: Jerica Wortham

At the heart of the Pärlá Festival is Jerica, a Tulsa native with a passion for the arts and community. Jerica is a bestselling author, award-winning spoken word artist, and a dynamic leader in Tulsa’s creative scene. As the founder of J’Parlé, a platform that amplifies diverse voices through a literary magazine and live shows, Jerica has made it her mission to uplift BIPOC creatives and bring their stories to the forefront.

Her work has earned her numerous accolades, including the 2020 Black Wall Street Spoken Word Artist of the Year and the Tulsa YWCA’s 2021 Woman of the Year Pinnacle Award for Arts and Humanity. Through the Pärlá Festival, Jerica continues to champion the arts, culture, and community that make Tulsa so vibrant.

Kick off the Pärlá Citywide Creative Festival with a community cookout! Enjoy a relaxed evening of delicious food, fun games, and the chance to connect with fellow Tulsans. It’s the perfect way to start a week of creativity and celebration.

Wellness Day at AHHA Tulsa
Monday, September 16 | 6:30 – 9:30 PM
Take a deep breath and unwind with a day dedicated to wellness. From community walks to yoga and sound bowl meditation, this day is all about recharging your body and mind. Whether you join in person or virtually, it’s a great way to focus on self-care.

Night of Dance at Tulsa Performing Arts Center
Tuesday, September 17 | 6:30 PM
Get ready to move at the Night of Dance! Featuring performances from some of Tulsa’s top dance groups, this event celebrates the diverse cultures and styles that make our city’s dance scene so unique. Don’t miss out on a night of rhythm and energy!

BIPOC Forum at Tulsa Central Library, Pocahontas Room
Wednesday, September 18 | 6:30 – 8:30 PM
Join the conversation at the BIPOC Forum, where local leaders and creatives will discuss the state of BIPOC creativity and community in Tulsa. This event is a must for anyone interested in the intersection of culture, creativity, and social impact.

Film Festival Workshop at Circle Cinema
Thursday, September 19 | 3:00 – 5:00 PM & Film Festival | 6:30 – 8:30 PM
Celebrate BIPOC filmmakers at the Film Festival! Start with a workshop led by award-winning filmmaker Deborah Riley Draper, followed by a red carpet event and screenings of powerful films. It’s a day of storytelling and cinematic magic you won’t want to miss.

Theatre Experience at Maya Angelou Theater

Fashion Show in Greenwood

Fashionistas, this one’s for you! The Pärlá Festival Fashion Show will showcase the innovative designs of BIPOC designers, from streetwear to bridal couture. Experience the future of fashion right here in Tulsa and see how local designers are pushing the boundaries of style.

Soirée on Greenwood
Sunday, September 22 | 6:30 – 8:30 PM
End the festival on a high note with the Soirée on Greenwood, an intimate dinner celebrating BIPOC creatives. This invite-only event is a beautiful way to close out the week, filled with reflection, connection, and celebration.



A Special Shoutout to the 918 Day Festival hosted by Downtown Tulsa Partnership!

While you’re planning your week, don’t forget about the 918 Day Festival on September 18 from 5-9 PM at Chapman Green! This day is all about celebrating Tulsa pride with live music, local food vendors, and fun activities for all ages. It’s the perfect mid-week break to enjoy some local flavor and community spirit.
