Category:  Events

At Downtown Tulsa Partnership, we’re thrilled to offer ribbon-cutting services to celebrate the grand openings of new businesses in our community— free of charge! We’re committed to supporting the local entrepreneurs who are transforming Downtown Tulsa. With over 90% of storefronts locally owned, each new business adds unique value to the vibrant fabric of our city. We’re proud to help small businesses shine and start strong in our downtown community!

These events are more than just ceremonies—they’re a way for businesses to kick off their journey in Downtown Tulsa with style, community, and some fantastic media buzz!

What Are Ribbon Cuttings?

Ribbon cuttings are special events designed to celebrate the opening of a new business or a major milestone, like an expansion. For new businesses coming into the heart of Downtown, a ribbon cutting can be a huge boost in visibility, as it gathers both community members and media attention.

Our role at DTP is to make the process seamless for business owners, so they can focus on the excitement and logistics of launching. We handle key elements such as:

  • Planning: Helping coordinate the day, time, and layout of the event.
  • Equipment setup: Bringing essential gear like a microphone, PA system, speakers, tables, chairs, ribbon, and—of course—our famous giant gold scissors.
  • Media outreach: Sending press releases and media alerts to invite local outlets to cover the event.
  • Promotion: Creating Facebook events and using our social media platforms to spread the word and boost attendance.

But what really makes each ribbon cutting shine is the personal touch that each business owner brings to their day. Let’s take a look at a few of our recent celebrations!

Highlights from Our Recent Ribbon Cuttings

Coracle Coffee

With their cozy atmosphere and artisan coffee, Coracle Coffee wanted an intimate celebration. We partnered to keep things simple but special. They gave out delicious pastry samples to early attendees—a warm welcome to their new shop. Given the size of their space, we worked closely to ensure the event felt exclusive without overcrowding, making sure the right people were there to kick things off and enjoy some great coffee.

Slate Sourdough

The ribbon cutting for Slate Sourdough was nothing short of a spectacle. The owners took the lead in reaching out to magazines and setting up interviews with local stations, turning their opening into a highly publicized event. Their creativity showed with a stunning balloon arch at the entrance and special giveaways, including branded totes for the first 50 customers. Guests were also treated to their signature cinnamon rolls made from scratch!

It was a great example of how a business can turn a ribbon cutting into a memorable promotional moment, and we were thrilled to be part of the action.

Ponyboy Barbershop

Ponyboy Barbershop took their ribbon cutting to the next level by turning it into a block party! Owner Nick Watson partnered with us to amplify his open house. The party featured a DJ, acrobatic performers, and an appearance by local celebrity Danny Boy O'Connor. There was something for everyone—from coffee to Chapagne to entertainment—making it one of the largest ribbon cuttings we’ve experienced. It was an incredible way to introduce their brand to the community in a big, bold way.

What’s Next? LAMIK Beauty

We’re excited for our next upcoming ribbon cutting with LAMIK Beauty, a brand that brings eco-chic cosmetics to Downtown Tulsa. With owner Kim Roxie's commitment to clean beauty and inclusivity, we know LAMIK's opening will be a standout event. Stay tuned for more details on the celebration welcoming this shop into the heart of Tulsa.

When you partner with Downtown Tulsa Partnership, you’re joining forces with an organization that’s deeply connected to the community and dedicated to seeing your business thrive. Our ribbon cuttings are just the start. They offer a way to:

  • Increase visibility: Our media outreach ensures that the local press knows about your opening, and we create opportunities for coverage that boosts your brand.
  • Strengthen connections: We invite key community members and officials, such as District 4 City Councilor Laura Bellis and District 1 City Councilor Vanessa Hall Harper, to speak and show their support.
  • Create buzz: We provide you with the tools and a platform to kick off your business with fanfare, but we also encourage you to bring your unique touch to the event—whether that’s giveaways, entertainment, or special offerings.
  • Free of Charge: We believe in building a thriving Downtown Tulsa by supporting local entrepreneurs at no cost. Our services are provided free of charge as part of our commitment to making downtown a vibrant center of commerce, culture, and community.
