Get ready for a summer of curiosity, creativity, and hands-on fun at Camp Guthrie! Join us every Wednesday in July at 10 a.m. for this FREE series designed to engage kids through interactive learning. Each week, we will explore a new topic led by local community partners. The session kicks off with an educational experience, followed by a hands-on activity that encourages kids to learn by doing.
Camp Guthrie wraps up for the summer with Camp-A-Palooza on August 1, a fun-filled celebration you won't want to miss!
This week's theme is Literacy, and the activity is "Story Stones: Build a Story, One Rock at a Time."
Each kid paints a scene, character, or object onto a smooth stone. Then, they will arrange the stones in different orders and tell a story based on what they see, either on their own or as a group, building one big story together. It's a simple way to show that stories can come from anywhere, even a handful of rocks.
Children must be accompanied by an adult at all times.
