Downtown Tulsa 6.18.23 Storm Response
Over the coming days and weeks, we will coordinate with the City of Tulsa and Downtown stakeholders to support damage assessment and cleanup efforts following today’s early morning weather event across the city. Updates from the City of Tulsa can be found here.
Given the significance of this cleanup effort, requests for DTP Ambassador maintenance services will be triaged and responded to as quickly as possible, though delays are more than likely. We ask that you please be patient and do your part to aid in the cleanup of areas around your property. We will communicate additional information as it becomes available as we work with the City of Tulsa and other partners.
Streets & Lights
Most streets leading into and within Downtown Tulsa are open, though debris of varying types and sizes may be present on and along the roadway. The City of Tulsa has placed stop signs at a minimum of 10 Downtown intersections without operable traffic signals. Please be reminded that intersections with inoperable or flashing traffic signals should be treated as four-way stops. The City of Tulsa asks that trees in the roadway and waterline breaks be reported to 918-596-9488.
Many streetlights, including PSO cobra head fixtures and the City of Tulsa’s decorative fixtures maintained by Downtown Tulsa Partnership, experienced damage and will be further assessed in the coming days as power is fully restored. Downed or damaged power lines should be reported to PSO online or to 833-776-9884.
Street Trees
Per City of Tulsa Code of Ordinances Title 35 Chapter 6 Section 606, maintenance and care of street trees and landscaping between the roadway and buildings are the responsibility of the adjacent property owner. The Downtown Tulsa Partnership works with Up with Trees to conduct limb trimming and fertilization on street trees every four years. The magnitude of this cleanup effort requires that property owners manage removal of downed street trees and large limbs with private landscaping contractors as it may be weeks or more before our teams can assist with cleanup across Downtown.
Business & Building Access
While many sections of Downtown have power and businesses are operating, other areas are still without power and are unable to open. You are encouraged to proactively reach out to businesses directly to see if they are open and operating — whether looking for a place to eat or needing to know if your building is accessible. Events
The effects of today’s weather event may have affected some events happening in Downtown tonight and possibly over the next few days. Please contact organizers directly or check their social media for updates, schedule changes, and possible cancellations. At this time Downtown Tulsa Partnership’s Namastreet Downtown Yoga event from 5-7:30 PM on Wednesday, June 21, will still occur as planned on Boston Avenue between 4th and 5th Streets.
